Sales Playbook (Historical — Church Only)
Last updated: March 2026 Audience: Sales demos, founder calls, automated outreach
Demo Philosophy
Every demo tells a story: a week in the life of a church that uses ChurchWiseAI. You are not selling software. You are showing a pastor what Monday through Sunday looks like when their church has a tireless, compassionate AI teammate.
Demo Rules
- Never open with features. Open with a moment the pastor recognizes from their own week.
- Demo live whenever possible. Type into the chatbot in real time. Let them hear the voice agent.
- Let the prospect talk. After each scenario, pause and ask: "Does that happen at your church?"
- Mark future features honestly. Some scenarios paint the product roadmap. Never present vision features as currently shipping.
- Keep it to 15 minutes. Respect their time.
The 15-Minute Demo Flow
Opening (2 min): "A Typical Week"
"Pastor, I want to walk you through a typical week at a church that uses ChurchWiseAI -- Monday through Sunday -- and let you tell me which moments matter most to your congregation."
Tuesday -- A Grieving Widow Chats at Midnight (2 min)
The emotional centerpiece. Demo this live.
Type into the chatbot: "I lost my husband three weeks ago and I can't stop crying."
The AI will follow Worden's Four Tasks of Mourning -- acknowledge pain, name the unspoken emotion, normalize, offer prayer, gently ask if the pastor should know. It captures the contact and flags it for pastoral follow-up.
"Your AI was there at midnight. Were you?"
Thursday -- Someone Asks About the Food Drive (2 min)
Demo live. Type: "I heard about the food drive. How can I help?"
The AI shares details and naturally offers a giving link -- no guilt, no pitch. Just what a good church volunteer would do.
Friday -- A Young Family Checks Out the Church (2 min)
Demo live. Type: "We're thinking about visiting this Sunday. We have a 3-year-old."
The AI addresses the Three Visitor Fears: safety (background-checked volunteers, matching pickup tags), comfort (family room with video feed), next steps (child pre-registration). It offers to connect them with other young families.
"That family had five questions answered at 10 PM on a Friday. When they walk in Sunday, they've already been welcomed."
Sunday -- Dashboard Review (2 min)
Show the admin dashboard: conversations this week, prayer requests captured, visitor contacts, pastoral follow-ups flagged.
"One subscription. Six people who can't live without it: the pastor, the office admin, the prayer team, the volunteer coordinator, the treasurer, and the care team."
Buyer Personas
Senior Pastor (Primary Decision Maker)
Pain: Drowning in admin. 15-20 hours/week on non-shepherding tasks. Motivation: Relief. Time back for the work they were called to do. Objection: "I don't trust AI with pastoral care." Response: "Neither do we. The AI triages. The pastor pastors. Let me show you Pastoral Connect."
Church Admin / Office Manager (Influencer)
Pain: Phone rings constantly. Visitors fall through cracks. No system for follow-up. Motivation: Competence. Nothing falling through the cracks. Objection: "Our members won't use it." Response: "85% of Americans accept texts from orgs they trust. The AI meets people where they already are -- phone, website, text."
Board / Finance Committee (Budget Gate)
Pain: Every dollar must be justified. Skeptical of new software. Motivation: Stewardship. ROI proof. Objection: "We can't afford it." Response: "What's the cost of one missed visitor who never comes back? Lifetime value of a church member is $15,000+. This costs less than $1/day."
AI-Skeptical Pastor
Pain: Anxiety about AI in ministry. Worried about theological safety. Motivation: Permission. Assurance that the human stays in charge. Bridge: "53% of Americans feel anxious about AI. We share that concern. Our conviction: AI should never pastor. AI should free the pastor to pastor."
Objection Handling
| Objection | Response |
|---|---|
| "We can't afford it." | Lifetime value of a church member is $15,000+. This costs less than $1/day. One visitor who stays pays for 40 years. |
| "Our members won't use it." | They won't know it's AI. They'll just know someone answered at midnight. 85% of Americans accept texts from orgs they trust. |
| "What if the AI says something wrong?" | Pastoral Connect. Sensitive topics redirect to the pastor. The AI knows what it doesn't know. |
| "We're too small." | You're exactly who this is for. Big churches have staff. You don't. This is like hiring a receptionist, prayer coordinator, and volunteer manager for under $80/month. |
| "Our denomination wouldn't approve." | 91% of pastors across all denominations support AI in operations. We support 17 theological traditions. The AI never makes theological claims -- it references your church's teaching. |
| "What about privacy?" | Role-based access. Confidential prayers redacted for non-pastoral staff. Data belongs to the church, not to us. Never sold or shared. |
Pricing Conversation
Never lead with price. Lead with value, then let them ask.
Step 1: Anchor with the Bundle
"The complete platform -- voice + chat + all 33 tools -- is $79.95/month. The Pro Bundle."
Step 2: Reframe
"Less than a part-time receptionist earns in one day. Works every holiday, every midnight, every Sunday morning."
Step 3: Right-size
If the Bundle feels like too much:
- Chat Pro ($34.95/mo) -- full chatbot with all demoed tools
- Voice Starter ($39.95/mo) -- 24/7 phone answering, ~100 calls/month
- Chat Starter ($14.95/mo) -- basic FAQ bot to get started
Step 4: Remove Risk
"Every plan comes with personalized setup. We configure the AI with your church's info. Cancel anytime. No contracts."
Follow-Up Sequence
| Timing | Action |
|---|---|
| Same day (within 2 hours) | Personal email referencing specific pain points from the demo |
| Day 2 | Personalized demo link -- their church name configured in the AI |
| Day 5 | Social proof -- case study or metric from a similar church |
| Day 10 | Free trial offer -- "Your AI is configured and ready. No credit card." |
The Day 2 personalized demo is the highest-converting follow-up. When a pastor sees their own church name in the AI's responses, it stops being abstract.
